Music and food go hand in hand, whether you’re cooking at home in your own kitchen, or celebrating and participating in any cultural or religious ritual. In a celebration of Reggae music, we at Very Culture! wanted to highlight the impact of this genre and Rastafari culture on food. Chef Vita, walked us through the role that Vegan food and Reggae music play in his own life as he chopped it up in the kitchen, prepping 3 delicious vegan delights for us to try!
After our 20 for 20 wrap up list collaboration with New Wave Jamaica, we decided to follow up with a mixtape accurately depicting a cross section of the culture, from Dancehall, to Reggae, to the future sounds In Jamaica, all on one mixtape, titled “Culture Wave”. Also perfect way to welcome New Wave Jamaica into Very Culture group of families, as we share a common goal of giving the creative culture in Jamaica a platform
“Seh you waa know herb, you waa know ganja”, well journey with us, as we explore the good Collie Herb from a research and quality assurance perspective. We got some insight from experts Dr. Machel Emanuel, a Cannabis Researcher/ Horticulturist and student, Valrick Henry from the Life Science Cannabis Research Group at the University of the West Indies, Mona Campus.
With the ending of one of the toughest years in history, Very Culture alongside New Wave presents “20 for 20”, a list with some of Jamaican Music’s Finest Moments in song, that provided a musical quarantine zone that held despair out and kept hope alive and our vibes high.
